You need two blocks of wood, same size, same height, and perfectly level, and two pins that are very smooth, and a smooth piece of shalf through the windmill blade. Make sure that the blade DO NOT touch the blocks so it can rotate freely.
The ticking noise you hear, has nothing to do with the balancing, thats the windmill outside bearing noise as I was making this video. Then see which end of the blade is heavyer, and repeat some sanding on the heavy end, try this few times till you get it close to perfect, then when ready, place a small piece of paper on one end , and watch what happens ....amaising.

  • Now This is a wonderful demonstration of how critical the balancing can be.

I carve and sand to balance mine. I have never seen a piece of paper move the blades that easy at 6 foot from the hub. I have learned and am impressed. I thought I was good at it. I have been balancing them to what I thought was overkill, and perfection. Thanks, My blades will be perfect from now on.
