Don't be certain of anything. What we see in our 3 or 4 dimensions are only shadows of things in the 5 and up dimensions. Just illusions of what is real.

@ijitdunn Or that which causes the rays. The light bringer mindset itself.

Although I strongly agree with CandiBristol's point about everyone from all dogmas claiming the mantle of the freed mind, this is a great way to establish a neutral point of entry for younger seekers of truth. Also, it reminds those of us who've been on the journey for a while that perception is just that...perception; in the end it's only a nebulous shadow of the truth, broadly open to interpretation. To find the truth, we must find the source of light...and that which obstructs it's rays.
One!
This is such a profound allegory. It's one of those that makes you feel as if it was written for you personally. For the same reason, that's it's weakness. Anyone: Christians, Panentheists, Non-theists, deists, etc each will almost inevitably think their particular foundational philosophy is the most "enlightened" one, and thus will identify themselves with the unfettered prisoner. In every case, the alternative philosophies will be thought to be represented by those that remain shackled.

The allegory is a metaphor, you have to assume that he is led into the real world...or even at that...one that is profoundly better than the previous hell he lived in. Perhaps the cycle continues for eternity, but the message is to strive for better and make sure to be humble and take your fellow man with you.
