The Broadway critics and naysayers have a lot to answer for the Tony nomination given to Lestat star Carolee Carmello for featured actress in a musical. Playing the mother of the vampire Lestat, Carolee couldn't contain her excitement with her family when she heard the news. "I was in the kitchen watching the broadcast with my husband on TV. My son was in the next room getting ready for school. He's five years old and my husband and I screamed when we heard my name. He said, 'what's going on there honey?' We're just happy honey, we're just happy. The tears were just streaming down our face. We just hugged and cried and consoled my son because he thought something horrible had...

  • @louisemichelle00 There was.

It played on Broadway in 2006, but it only lasted 39 performances. Sad, because the songs are amazing! As is the story.

  • there's a muscial of lesat?? 0.o cool!

  • LOL CHARLIE BIT ME!

  • the play? no no, worse, the musical? ew.

  • Carolee is an amazing performer. One of those actresses whose work is so consistently good. Not surprised at this nomination even if Lestat was a flop.

  • @LKKSEmpress

Lestat was a stage ACTOR in PARIS in his youth... you think they had rock music in the 1600's? This is the kind of thing the character Lestat did for a living prior to becoming a Vampire, so it's only fitting they made a musical based on the book.... I'll bet you're a HUGE fan of the Queen of the Damned MOVIE arn't you?

  • Perhaps the San Fran version may make a comeback in Europe someday. One can hope.

  • I wanna see Lestat the musical! O: Sounds EPIC! x3

  • I can't see her as gabrielle at all. Gabrielle was talked about as beautiful, this girl is just okay. Granted it was Lestat talking about his mother but I would have figured they'd have someone better. But an Anne Rice Vampire novel as a musical is as insulting as when they tried making Freddy Krueger the host of the reality show about fear. It's too far. Freddy was meant to be scarry and this is just down right insulting to have that fuck play the great Lestat.

  • @bifflemcchuff66 It flopped. Its prob not coming back until people get over Twilight.
