My response -- as a gay man -- to this "It gets better" glurge that's sweeping the internet. It doesn't get "better." It stays bad, just in a slightly different way.

MA had "gay marriage" when this was made, but you still risk going to federal prison for filing a fraudulent return if you try to file a joint return with your same-sex spouse. Gays can serve in the military, and have open hostility to them expressed by Republican debate audiences when they ask a question -- while they're still serving in harm's way in Iraq, I might add. These are "better?" I can give more examples of how it's not "better" than how it is during my lifetime.

@grafplaten not at all no. guys, im 16. you can call me naive, you can call me ignorant, and you can call me immature. and i am a child. but despite my age im going to stand by my opinion. i believe that it does get better, i believe there is hope. if there wasnt hope then i wouldnt want to live. even if that hope is personal and not universal; just as all people deserve freedom of speech, all people deserve a freedom of hope, no matter how impossible.

This is EXACTLY what I've been noticing, and in my opinion, the bullying gets worse as you become an adult. Why? Because not only are your peers and family giving still you shit, the government starts in for the same reasons you listed in the video.

On top of that, it's very disruptive to your life to be 23 years old and trying to figure yourself out, something that should have been taken care of in middle/high school, had things been ideal.

@bnm73me ok, well, i dont believe in buddhism but that doesnt mean i go out of my way to destroy everyone that practices it. just because you dont like what the it gets better videos are doing does not mean you have to try and disprove it. i was so happy and hopeful for the first time in a long time when i saw the it gets better video, and then i watched this and felt terrible. is that really what you want? to make people like me feel alone and terrible?
