Enfin une pièce où le basson est à l'honneur.... Très joli.

@Dacookstar Marry Handel? OK, necrophilia is kinda cute. Genaux is already married.

Magnifique ! Quelle voix, quel orchestre ! Brillant ! Je ne me lasse pas d'écouter cet air. Grand merci de l'avoir posté !

@skip8619 violino is violin. its solo violin, violins I and II with oboe I and II doubling. Cello is considered bassi which in this case is actually short for basso continuo. Viola is violetta. When in doubt, check the clefs.

poor bassoonist that must be a terror... O.O

Beautiful! I love Handel's music, thanks dearly for sharing!

When it says "violino" on the score, is a what would be a cello nowadays, or a viola? I'm assuming that "violetta" is violin.

Eccellente! Stupenda versione. Bravissimi musici e cantante. Molte grazie. `E un gioiello.
I'd like to see sheet music of Venti turbini as sung in the movie "Farinelli il castrato" because it is so diferent from this one,.. The one from the movie is sung in a higher register and with completely different coloratura arrangement.

What Handel wrote is what you see on this video. It's the same aria; same score written by the same composer. Genaux, Daniels, Bowman, Jaroussky, Malas/Ragin are all singing this score you see here. The difference is the ornamentation of the 'da capo' which is up to the singer; it's never written. It is the interpretation of the performers. So you can never find a score that matches what you hear in Farinelli soundtrack or in any other recording.

About the register: it is only the difference in the pitch standard chosen by the performers to tune their instruments, nothing else.

Well thnx Mr. know it all. I know that what I have seen on that score is what Handel had written (Im not stupid!). I also know that ornamentation was frequently up to particular mental and vocal ability of the singer to deal with and that the one from the movie was never written, still it doesn't mean that it cannot be written. I just wanted to say that it would be nice to see that particular one written on the paper thats all...

Mr? know it all? thnx?
Well, I don't see the necessity of it being on the paper. Scores are only to communicate what was composed. And ornamentation is supposed to be unique to the performer. If you aren't going to imitate it, you don't need the score. To hear it is enough to study/appreciate how the singer paraphrases the original thought. It's irrelevant if it's an F or a D that s/he's singing? It would look like a bunch of 16th notes up and down the staff all over the place anyway, lol! :)

who play the violin?? Jacobs?
delauge 3 years ago
I know Jacobs plays harpsichord, but I don't think he mastered the violin to this degree. According to the CD booklet, violin part here must have been played by Petra Müllejans, the concertmaster of the Freiburger Barockorchester.
