What goes on in the Steorn SKDB Part 2

Here is a clip from November 2009 of one of the Rigs I was building in Steorns closed off SKDB.

Testing the magnetic bearings and seeing what they can do.

I cannot go too deep into the configuration due to the usual NDA, but thought it would be nice to show some samples public, with permission from Steorn of course !

  • uh, so what? nice bearings ditto.... otherwise it proves.... nothing

  • This is fake, you can clearly see he's using compressed air to turn the machine!

    jk It's pretty cool.

  • I think the bearings work. :-)

Please be careful, I'd hate to see you get injured by flying debris 4000rpm translates to about 60 mph at a radius of 2.5inches.

It looks like a fine rig in spite of the noise.

  • Holy crap!

  • Why stop ?
