  • The other video of this showed take off in a few meters, but doesnt show how they get the rotor spinning as there is no force from engine acting on it, somehow deleted now. Anyone know?

From the groen bros website; vertical take-off and landing.

I see how the landing is obvious. Why the hell not show the vertical take off?

  • @Simon2600 The rotor blades are powered by the engine during takeoff. Nobody was expecting it to take off way down at the very end of the runway where we couldn't see it. That's why I didn't show the takeoff.

  • In that type of accident the aircraft got into a pilot induced occilation (PIO) until the rotor blade flapped into the tail and prop. A horizontal stabilizer added will help prevent that. A properly designed gyro will not do that.

  • I notices it has a different rotorhead than most of the gyros we see. How is tilting the rotor done?

  • @Simon2600 There is one tiny picture on their site showing a clutch to initiate "the none powered" rotor spin. Cant find any text reference to it.. fun

  • ça ressemble à autogire xenon mais plus grand

  • @splotsplot Autorotation is way easier than in helicopters, as the torque is eliminated. Depends on the type, but speed is better than on many small helos. Great safety record...

  • That's one huge Gyro

  • what sort of costs are involved?

  • It's funny how you don't see more gyroplanes. They do seem to have a stigma attached to them and yet this is an impressive aircraft.

  • can this thing take off without pre-rotation of the rotors?
