**Important!!! YOU MUST check your compressor for a shorted winding BEFORE attempting this repair!!! Instructions are available in several other YouTube videos, and service manuals. If you have a shorted winding and replace the relay anyway, you will run the risk of destroying the new relay and potentially causing an electrical fire once power is re-applied to the refrigerator.**

Compressor not starting? Does it start, and immediately kick off? Here's why.

  • weres the world of obsolete technology? in your intro?

  • @WinbookXL3 I am re-branding the channel as simply "BBISHOPPCM's World"

  • That fridge is tiny compared to most of the fridges I see in american houses. Also I didn't think Americans used the word 'fridge'!

  • @Danny77uk This was considered a "normal" sized fridge in this country up until recently, when double-door mammoth-sized models started gaining popularity. This isn't the smallest household fridge available, there are two smaller sizes you can get. Yes, the word "fridge" is very common here... what the heck did you think we called them?

  • Great info to know! Thanks for shareing!

  • Its really sad but I've know a lot of peopele with failed appliances from 2007 or 8 or newer.

For some reason they don't make them like they used to. Granted they are a lot better looking and more energy efficient now.

We had an early 1980's fridge up until last year. It was still working fine but the power draw was very high and it was a little too small, so we replaced it.

If the new fridge lasts even half as long as it did, I will be surprised.

  • hmmm. I bought the same fridge (black) around the same time period. Luckily it has no signs of trouble, but hey at least this is good to know!

  • Nice tip, i'm going to try that next time. We are to used to just throwing things away these days without even trying to repair.
