  • @hremdldw Thanks for the view and for the comment. Yes! "Straight Ahead" and "Sao Paulo" are my favorite tracks on the album too.

  • rogerjazzfan: I remember on the original liner notes Kenny talking about Tony Williams who I might add was 17 years old at the time of this album came out in 1963.As I recall his statement "was listen at this kid"!Another favorite on this album was Sao Paulo.

  • Thanks. I'm glad to recieve your timely comments!

  • Great tune, Roger! Joe Henderson really works his solo into a lather, taking almost 3 1/2 of the tune's 9 minutes to make his very literate statement.

I read, in Wikipedia that Kenny Dorham's name is synonymous with the word "underrated". Well, anyone who could hang out in the bands of Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Charlie Parker, The Jazz Messengers, Monk and Sonny, and the Max Roach Quintet has got to be both extremely talented AND versatile, as well.

Thanks for yet another jazz gem!
