Long Ride across the Wabash Cannonball Bridge

This is a complete ride across the Wabash Cannonball Bridge and the approach bridges. This famous bridge is located near St. Francisville, Illinois. I started on the Indiana side at the levee and drove across to the Illinois side.

It may have seemed scary, but you had nothing to worry about. Under the floor boards are railroad ties and under the ties are two 6 foot thick "I" beams that used to hold up 1,000 ton trains. Your 1.5 ton car was like hotwheel on a 2x4.

I've been on that bridge...once. It was a good ten years ago, it was wintertime and my mom and I were shopping in Mt Carmel. She talked me into going over the St F bridge and it scared the heck out of me.
