This is an area where a lot of foreigners hangout. There are lots of restaurants that offer foreign cuisine and there are lots of places to shop. I went to the area quite frequently. It's also known for its red light district known as "hooker hill". There is also an area for the homosexual population known as "homo hill". Itaewon is near a military base so you see a lot of soldiers hanging out in the area.

Its a long video, but I made it for people who were curious about my travels so they can see an area of Seoul.

This was taken in March of 2011.

  • @dladnwp I agree. There are racist people in every country so that shouldn't stop anyone from going to Korea.

  • @77greent Well here's the thing. racism exists everywhere. I've heard that Australia isnt always accepting of Asian people either. I grew up in America since I was 14 and I had been teased and bullied cause I was an Asian and didn't speak English. So what? we shouldn't let stupid racism get in our way or our life. We don't take those racists seriously. If you want to visit Korea you should. A lot of Asians travel Europe even tho they know they are gonna be treated like shit.

  • Wow! This brings back memories! I almost drank Itaewon dry from 2002-2006. So many characters in this neighbourhood.

  • couples everywhere ...and if I go to South Korea, I'll be the only person who's forever alone, lol 3 wait, they look down at Southeastern asian? :/ I'm from Southeast asia as well but currently living in UK. I always wanted to go to South Korea and probably to study there but huh, I'm scared now :(

  • @winthropalum

Yes, we like foreigners generally, but it depends on their personal.

  • @dladnwp true that

  • @klzabc if you are from a country that is more developed than korea, you will be welcomed. ex) US, Japan, Western Europe, Australia etc. if you not, you will be treated like animals. TRUTH HURTS, Koreans, huh?
