This was taken in the AM off Kakaako park area close to the Kewalo Basin. Shooting both to the left in front of Ala Moana and to the right the park. Enjoy!!
Those blokes are havin' fun ! bringing the whanau to Hawaii next year & thought a squizz at Ala Moana would be - well - a buzz for meself. Seen blokes like Michael Ho, "Buttons" Kahalinakalani (probably wrong) Dane Kealoha, Rory Russell, Gerry Lopez, Ben Aipa, Geoff Hackman & all me childhood heroes- take this place apart. Wouldn't hinder the local boys by takin' a longboard out- be a buzz & three quarters to see the place go 'round!
Great post. I enjoyed this one because good Town surf, but also because most surfers actually surf like that. I.e., trying hard to set up correctly, and occasionally pulling off a decent move. I like to watch mind-boggling ripping too, but now and then it's affirming to see reality.
Tenakoe ! Magic lefts, rights & a few interesting in betweens! Is Ala Moana outside of a shipping channel ? Pardon my ignorance as this bloke has never been to the shores of your unique paradise. Saw a movie where a bloke called "Butttons" (Kahaluikalani?) became one with the place. You have magic- Haire ra.
Great flick! I surfed the Kewalo left for two years - 1965 & 66. I knew the Manoa crowd - Bones, Ron N, Russ M, Long Russ, Mooch, Stephen. I was called Bobby Boy (9'6 Hobie beater). I have a Facebook group site I'd like everyone to join and post pix called "Kewalo Basin Surfing Society". Hope to see you there.
