It's called preservation of the vocal chords. He'd obviousy only use his higher range when he needs to. With this performance being in a studio, no live audience was present, hence the laid back 'jamming' style performance.
in bridge it has and he didn't do it.. but no matter i respect him as he is, but it would be more cool as an artist to give his best to the audience, take for instance david cook he has an awesome voice and belts the notes all the time, can't wait for the album :)
@RynoComesAlive It's not his voice really, Daughtry is more than capable to belt out a note, the song doesn't have any belting in it. Plus his voice probably wasn't at the peak of perfection when they did this. Either way it sounds good.
