Following his comments about the Pope and his visit to the United States, and the lack of apology on Friday, American Life League called for a unified effort among Catholics to sign petition to fire Bill Maher. American Life League has even created the website "FireBillMaher.com", where Catholics could go and sign the petition online. At press time a little over 8,000 signatures were collected calling on HBO to fire Bill Maher. The organization is also calling for Catholic HBO subscribers to to cancel their subscriptions until Bill Maher is fired.

  • Muslims get punished for decapitating people. Evangelicals get yelled at for being racist homophobes. But it seems not enough is being done about the Catholic problem.

  • @leizuoer In America, atheists are the third most hated group. First is Child Molesters, second is murderers. This varies in extremes depending on where in the US you are. In the deep south, teens get thrown out of their homes because they tell their parents that they're atheists. I've never had the feeling that you have, so please, for the sake of people like myself, a member of a hated minority, never take that feeling for granted.

  • @joshlovsbball dangerous opinion to lean on, probably the reason the planet is in the shit it is. as for your assumption that we're either here because of aliens or god, what's wrong with the truth : "i don't know where we came from". the day you nail it down with speculation is the day you stop thinking. same goes for "i don't know what will happen when i die". instead of lying to myself, i can accept this truth and keep wondering. don't fear the unknown - it's kinda beautiful

  • @binkasaurus yeah, the pope doesn't have a beard. no guarantees he's not in your bedroom at night tho... tell it, Bill! let's help the misinformed find the truth

  • @emugrogan your eventual ability to reason and rationalise all on your own like a big boy will propel us forward into a positive future free of division. imagine the progress in the middle-east... we may see magical things begin to happen and it will be good.

organised religion is a danger to the future of every single one of us. more-so even than the division of rich and poor or black and white.

with genuine love, wake up... please? for all our sakes.

  • @emugrogan 'atheist' is such a dirty word. just call us people. we're the ones patiently waiting for you to wake up and catch up. just because we don't subscribe to dogma which demands we are separate and alienates us from each other does not make us lesser beings than you. we accept you because you are human. on this side of the great divide you are always welcomed with indiscriminate love and appreciation.

  • @emugrogan to the collective consciousness of modern man. in fact the only purpose these influences serve is to divide and control us. they have nothing whatsoever to do with a message any 'god' left us. how many people have died in the name of one god or another? fucking for chastity anyone? “forget the message of my specific dogma, i'll kill anybody who believes anything different to me”

  • @emugrogan scientific concepts like quantum mechanics or computers or the damned steam engine could exist. to them, answers lay elsewhere. that man achieved a state of enlightenment where such self-actualisation was possible and then stagnated is perhaps the underlying feeling of angst reflected in our society today.

urely it cannot be denied that although the central messages of organised religions are positive, there are influences which are no longer relevant

  • @emugrogan wow dude, way to avoid the brainwashing. true, most theistic theory is focused on the positive grounding and guidance of man. a collective of modern philosophies of the time - a time where man had only relatively recently planted roots in civilised existence. peppered in these theories are other remnants of the time - deep superstition, fear, ignorance. remember that this was also a time lacking a general understanding of how things worked. of even the slightest idea that

  • @Calcos323 Child molesters are more hated than murderers? In the deep south, they murder animals because they think they're pests and ignore any form of science telling them they can feel. Atheists aren't perfect, but they're far more intelligent than southern nutjobs. As far as I'm concerned, the deep southern population needs to be rounded up and, how do they put it? Oh, right, "deprogrammed". They should be put through mental strainers until they can think outside of what they were raised.

  • @Calcos323 And yet you're 17% of the population, almost one in every five people. It's disgusting the attitude shown towards people simply for NOT being superstitious robots. How can they categorise atheists in the same group as murderers????? And child molesters, seriously? What a fucked up ideology. I bet the same people who hate you for not believing in god are some of the same people who go on about the US being the "land of the free"? They're hypocrites.
