  • Hehehe. Thrifty video. And AKULA2 is definitive one of the most leathal subs out there. But when talking about beeing comparable to the most updated LA class american subs, the narrator only talks about acoustic signatur. The level of noise. Hiding from your enemy is just half of the challenge. You must also find him, using passive sonar. And on that front the americans leads the russkis with a marathon. The noiseresuction is mostly design and mechanical solutions. High tech is something else..

  • @kjemma "And on that front the americans leads the russkis with a marathon."

Despite that technological lead (as you allege) Soviet subs were coming to shores of Miami in 70s. Entire NATO Anti-Submarine Forces lost and couldn't find 5 Viktors for days in Atlantic. Which basically means that a mutual annihilation was inevitable in case of nuclear strike by any of sides.

  • @BitnikGr And in the 50ties the sovjets went into space before the americans,...So? What happend decades ago is history. The technological development in sonar and landbased SOSUS-systems in just a few decades have been like a mars-landing. American subs sonar-systems are the most sensitive on the planet. They can hear shrimps feeding outside the hull. Thats why Kursk had a double hull. So they could absorbe torpedohits and counterattac. They knew the americans would find them first...

  • @kjemma I was not talking about irrelevant achievement of the past. You mentioned LA class submarines. And I mentioned operation "Atrina" and other Soviet subs performance in SAME years, when one of their opponents were "Los Angeles" subs with "hyper-superior" sonars and electronics. Operation "Atrina" took place in 1987, when 35 "LA" class subs were in commission. ;)

5 Viktors remained successfully undetected by NATO ASW means in 1987... including LA class subs.

  • @kjemma By the way, since we are talking about advanced electronics and equipment. Which was the first US submarine with ability to analyze a "wake track" (wake fraction) signature?

  • why you are not post video in english

  • @visu052 What do you mean? Can't you read english subtitles?
