Sudans Vice President Salva Kiir Mayardit has assured the international community that the forthcoming referendum in Sudan will go on as planned next year and that there was no cause for alarm. Speaking after meeting with a visiting delegation of Kenyan mps, Kiir who is also the president of Southern Sudan said that his mission was to see the country go to the referendum on the 9th of January 2011 and emerge from it peacefully.
