These 5 parts of the Lennon/Snyder interview are great pieces of history. The lawyer bits really help to understand the situation that was. I love Lennon's statement, "I even brought my own cash."

Why was he tense? Apart from the fear of being deported, he was a shy man. That's why he always seemed slightly manic on TV; he overcompensated because he felt he needed to.

@sunacouple69 I wrote that 2 years ago, really?? I wasn't comparing. And suicide is something performed by an irrational mind, one that was also epileptic. He never had a chance once he was diagnosed with epilepsy. Flashing lights etc. Anyway, i love both men equally, they were both great songwriters.

Ian Curtis has his chance too. Too bad he decided to hang himself on a clothes line at 23. Regardless of his ability and/or you or anyone else's opinion, give me a break comparing him to John Lennon

@Lapensee80 there was alot of controversy with so many different people ad it was on public tv so anything he said could be used against him in court or by the general public fans. John was always kind of defensive and acted tough and hesistant to show his true caring personality he hid behind the though act and the glasses

this show did allow John to talk and clear up alot of controversy and explain alot about the deportation issues that may have led to his death

@phil946 Most of today's interviews are done on the late night shows & if you're not a comic, you'll become the butt of the host's joke. The hosts are just listening where to insert a joke. On the news shows (network or cable) the goal is a scandalous newsbite. James Lipton, Charlie Rose and Tavis Smiley still do old actual interviews, the others are just variety shows. Merv Griffin's, Mike Douglas' and even Dinah Shore's were much more informational than today's shows so it can be done.

@Gnillob802 Snyder was a proper interview... not a celebrity wannabe host like today's lot

@macrosense and Scottish independence was the inspiration for the American Revolution etc etc....
A lot of people didn't like Tom Snyder but his show was great for these reasons:
He had completely different types of people on the show, not the same ol' people (unlike CNN and Larry King is senile), allowed anyone that had a different perspective than him to be on the show (unlike MSNBC), he allowed them speak, listened to them, and didn't yell at them in disagreement (unlike Fox). Snyder might give his opinion but he wasn't putting these things together just to push his agenda.

It's too bad Mark Chapman wasn't locked up as he should've been before he had a chance to shoot Lennon.
