Yu-Na Kim attended the 31st Annual Salute to Women in Sports which was held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. From http://www.lifeskate.com/skate/2010/10/yu-na-kim-honored-and-inspired-video.html. This is an event hosted by the Women's Sports Foundation, an organization founded by legendary tennis great Billie Jean King to help and inspire young girls everywhere to reach their dreams. In all, more than 60 world-class athletes from track and field to golf to swimming to snowboarding -- you name the sport, the crème de la crème were there -- came together under one roof to celebrate women's accomplishments and contributions to sports.

Figure skating was well represented by Yu-Na Kim, Michelle Kwan and Sarah Hughes. Interestingly, Michelle is a past recipient of a Women's Sports Foundation scholarship so this organization is near and dear to her heart. Here is my conversation with Yu-Na and we talk about her recent move to Los Angeles from Toronto, her coaching change from Brian Orser to Peter Oppegard, and her idol Michelle Kwan. Yu-Na was also nominated for Sportswoman of the Year and she won later in the evening! See complete coverage of Yu-Na Kim at: http://www.lifeskate.com/skate/yu-na-kim/

  • I'm actually impressed with her command of the English language, considering she was born and raised in Korea. she doesn't have a thick foreign accent like you would expect from a foreigner. it's possible she not only work hard on her skating but also on her English vocabulary. what a remarkable young lady.

  • who's care if her english not really good,i think she's the talented people for what she's done ol dz time..she's pretty & cute..go korea..i love korea like i love snsd & kim yuna...

  • @ChaeriSONELF hwaiting..:)

  • she is pretty.

  • @fanybsnsd LOL XD WE'RE SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEEEEEE~!!!!! I LOVE SNSD, LOVE KOREA & KIM YUNA TOO~!!! hahahahah, sorry for the caps,

  • @akyinum44 She did and she did it too at the Spring skate fever 2011. That's nothing wrong with that to look upon up her senior.

  • @wayneleeart Totally agree with you. We have quite a lot of unreasonable haters here. They hate sometimes just because she is Korean, period, not because of her characters or her skills. For me, she's still the best. I've seen her performed before live and it was awesome!

  • you can see she's a strong character. those questions are not that easy to answer even for a native english speaker, and for her to answer questions articulately with statements like "i hope they can be inspired by me as i was inspired by michelle" under pressure with a camera in her face and with a language she struggles with, you have to applaud her. so for people who criticize others who have weak english, i challenge you to do the same as that in another language under the same circumstances
