A view of this siren in operation. Nobody seems to know the manufacturer, but there are several in use around Oregon.

  • It is on a short pole on the hillside below where I'm filming. It probably weighs about 200 lbs. and the rotor is about 14" in diameter.

  • The siren is that siren-shaped device in the center of the screen that all the noise is coming from.

  • I looked at another one of these up close and it had no manufacturer's tag except on the motor (Westinghouse). They have nine ports and this one has had a pointed cap added. The original cover looked like an inverted paint can.
