Printmaker Isolina Limonta Limonta is one of Cuba's most prolific and successful artists of her generation.
You may first notice the beautifully rich colors and textures in her work. Below the surface, however, lie deeper social observations.
Isolina Limonta was born in 1958 in Guantanamo in eastern Cuba and now lives in the city of Havana. Her
richly detailed collagraphs (relief prints) and etchings explore the intimately feminine. The bodies of the figures in her work are filled with the elements of their lives -- plants, coins, feathers, architecture, lace, or buttons (to name a few) are imprinted on their bodies.
Isolina's art work is so beautiful, I would love to see a video of her making one of her collagraphic prints.
