http://live.pirillo.com/ - Jokingly, Chris said he formatted his hard drive every week. Should you really format your hard drive once a week? Is it a good idea to regularly format your drive?

  • Master, Help ur fan out please~! I wish to reformat my drive, but the problem is that it asks me to back-up the system files on a DVD drive. My computer did not come with a partitioned drive which has all the system files. If I burn all the system files on a DVD disk and try to reset my computer, will this work? What are the risks? I am afraid of pressing "restore to factory condition" and then my computer saying "Opps, I don't understand the dvd drive (even though I told u to burn it) Help PLZ!

  • @Richard1125 format the hard drive. Take out the actual hard drive on your dell get a dock station and format that hard drive put it back on the Dell and reinstall the OS. Hope it helps.

  • i had my PC for a few years before i formatted it. It was running fine, although obviously not as great as when i first bought it. The reason i formatted it was due to some stupid virus which i honestly have no idea where i got it from.

  • @konataspecial a good tip to those who have hidden sectors on thier HDD is to get a second drive of the same size as the first and make a complete dump of the drive *it normally copy the hidden sectors too* then you can use the recovery system till on the first drive and do a drive wipe through that, not only do you have a exact backup of your old system but also you have a safety net of you do mess it up as you can just recopy the drive and try again with no harm done

  • =/ reformatting is a double edged sword, it can help you fix your computing blues but also cause others. if the conputer has multiple passworded accounts then you gonna find it hard to get the files off the HDD, also if you are using a pre built PC like a packard bell or a HP unit you might fail to notice that the recovery system relies on a hidden partition, which if removed will render your recovery CD / DVDs unusable.

  • HP rep helped me with recovery disk install but says Operating System is no good anymore. What can I do. My computer is only 4 years old. PLEASE HELP

    THANK YOU

  • I tried to restore my Dell. Now I have Widows Vista on my harddrive TWICE. And the D drive is full. How do I remove one of the Vistas?
