  • Answered all my questions....was worried about power and surface area

  • Stop talking and show us how to service it!!

  • Respond to this video... ...but these designs are not dual sided(nice if you clip in and out a lot, like in the city, waiting at long long intersections, pedestrian areas). The Speedplay float while cool on the flats, I found I did not like a "unrestricted" float(again, my term for a float that feels like you are on ice) when you're climbing or sprinting. Pluses and minuses with every pedal design and they seem to be like saddles....personal preference.

  • Respond to this video... I have all the major pedal designs. There are good and bad about all of them. I have ridden the Speedplays and like them for the simplicity and double sided design. They are the easiest pedal to get in and out of. That "stack height" stuff is just plain silliness. Yes, there is such a thing, but as a percentage of your total rotation and tourque transferred to the bike, it's minimal. I like the old LOOK and Shimano designs for their huge, stable platform.

  • @samstterhamstteer No. Imagine if you make a pedal platform smaller and smaller(which LOOK wanted to do with the KEO design). The contact surface is smaller and the fact that you have to bend the metal to get out. This creates a small amount of area that you can "rocker"(my term) the foot laterally before you pop out. It becomes more apparent as that metal, on the cleat, that snaps over the pedal, becomes more flexible, thereby allowing more and more movement before you pop out.

  • @samstterhamstteer You're able to adjust Speedplay pedals to have 0 float or a lot of float.

  • @edmonddantes64 so your saying the speedplay has some side to side play?

  • This importance of contact area in pedals is over done. I ride LOOK, Speedplay, Shimano, Crank Bros.

The amount of pedal contact "maybe" greater with Speedplay vs. LOOK, but it's WHERE the shoe contacts the pedal that's important, ie torque.

I have MORE rocking with my Speedplays than my LOOK(NOT LOOK KEO though..those are LOOK's joke on cycling, cause this year they're pushing a "higher contact area")

My foot rocks with the Speedplay because the surface area is so condensed. I do like them.

  • Crap audio. Sorry.

  • @nl1098 That music was awesome!
