@schmui first off, thank you for the compliment :-) i want to repeat, again, as i said before, and in my only video as myself and as i said on my profile, this is just a character. i've been on stage since i was four, i didn't come out until i was 25 and i didn't do drag until a few years after that. i've only been in drag about a dozen times in my entire life. it's not a way of life for me, it's just a costume. i've always liked torch singers and i'd already done it as a man

oh and don't think i want you to sing "like a real man".
i just think you never even thought about doing anything else than this since the moment you realized you're gay.
just like emos believe they were born to be photographers, you do this "entertainer" thing without questioning it. i do.
although i don't think you're exceptionally talented, i truly believe you can do better than just repeating stereotypes over and over again.

@Icz7 thanks :-) all the videos i've posted so far have been impromptu, without rehearsals of any kind and without any idea of what i was going to sing or how i was going to sing it until i opened my mouth. the next one i post will be carefully planned and rehearsed taking all comments and feedback into consideration. I think the one above was probably one of my best because it's gotten over 125,000 hits. i do appreciate constructive criticism though :-)

@LoreleiLaneLee, you're welcome. Also I saw some of your other vids as you suggested and you're right. You do have a bunch of looks, shades etc, and also different vocal sounds going on as you said. I see it now :-)
i think that's just the way people are. stupid and narrow minded.
straight men think they have to act like potential sex offenders, straight women believe they're expected to walk around like barbies and talk like the cast of jersey shore and gay men...
well, you set the perfect example for that.

@schmui i agree, people can be stupid and narrow minded. america elected gw bush, twice. i may be a stereotype in many ways, i'm thin, i look good in a dress, i like musical theater, i work in fashion, etc. however, i am just being myself. i do those things because i truly love doing them. i don't go to clubs and dance like a fool because i don't enjoy that. i'm not a slut because i don't enjoy that. those are two stereotypes that i don't fit.

my point is: i don't think that's really you. i think you'd rather want to be a teacher/construction worker/scientist/professional soccer player or sth and that you'd be good at it.
i think you just act in a way that you think is expected from you because you don't have whatever it is that it takes to make up your own mind.
just like these artists at those appointments i have to attend who are all flashy and flamboyant
in the axact same way.

@schmui professionally, i'm in fashion and i'm really really good at it, one of the best in my company in fact. i don't ever act in any way because it's "what's expected of me". I was raised in a conservative, christian environment, if i was acting as i was expected to, i'd be married with six children by now. if you were to actually meet me and get to know me, instead of making assumptions based on a video on the internet when i'm playing a character, you wouldn't make such accusations.

it's just that this "i'm gay so i'm an artist so i'm going to wear a dress and sing like a girl"-thing really annoys me. it's getting old and i pretty sure for obvious reasons that you have no idea what it's like to have an appointment in a gallery along with 15 "i want everybody to know"-gay artists bitching around for no reason. i'm in that situation almost every single day and i'm getting sick of it. sure that's my problem but i don't think i'm that much of a bully just for letting you know.

@schmui i was actually a musical theater major in college and have been performing on stage for over 25 years, so yes, i do know what it's like to be around a bunch of stereotypical people who all act the same way. everyone is entitled to their own ignorant opinions and there are certainly very talented artists out there that i don't personally enjoy or appreciate. i don't, however, make a point of finding them and criticizing them. that's just tacky and tasteless.
