If Shakespeare was impoverished we probably wouldn't have half of what we do from him. He wouldn't have been getting money from his patrons (King James) to continue writing his plays.The man was a writer so he would have had to write,the question is, would we know of him or would the writings of a lower class Elizabethan be lost to posterity?Poe on the other hand wrote a lot and was poor.I wonder what getting paid and being well known would have done to his writing.Good question.Thanks!
