Myki was launched today with very little celebration. And rightly so, because you can only use it on Melbourne metropolitan trains. Not on the bus or on the tram. Just the train. Nor can you actually get a Myki card. Yes, you can as of 3pm today register online for one but you cannot use Myki until the card arrives in the post - and who knows when that will happen? Reports vary from 7 days to one month. So when is Myki being "fully rolled out across Melbourne by the end of 2009" as promised by the State Government? Who knows? Lynne Kosky is not saying. Probably a smart move given the mounting number of broken promises. As reported on Channel 10 5pm evening news, 29 December 2009.

@kmach1993 so one year onward, is the Myki any better? I also noticed you mention
"metcard" are there two types of systems in use on your rail network?

i hav a myki and it is a complete SHIT! i need to put the card onto the sensor thing for like 10 seconds to open the frkn gate! and this is most embarrassing when im trying to pass the gate during times when theres heaps of people and many behind me. IT feels as if theyre saying 'wat is this guy doing? get out of there, we need to pass thru!' Pissed me off so much i just jump over them even in front of those guards. metcard takes one second and works so much finer and smoother.
