@mayacalypsa Yes, indeed, I will post some preop pics by next weekend. It'll take some nerve to get them fixed just right. lol But it's an important part of the journey for us all to see those preop/postop pics and videos.
Nice to meet another OR RN! Did you go to Mexico for cost reasons?

how did you get your insurance to cover it? Ive heard that they do NOT want to.

@Wellington5392 They definitely don't want to cover it. However, I had had documentation from the beginning of my weight loss journey of each & every skin issue, every time I had a rash, pictures, prescriptions, etc., and letters from my bariatric surgeon, primary care doctor, and plastic surgeon supporting me. We submitted it to the insurance company and they covered it without question. Even my plastic surgeon was shocked! I think it was all about good documentation.

Questions: What specific issues did you have with skin to get approved? My insurance will do a paniculectomy if I have documented skin conditions. I don't think I have anything that applies, and was wondering it there is a way around it. What prompted you to do this at this point in time-why not before? I have decided to start saving for the procedure...may take YEARS to have enough $ !

@clbroadway Specific skin issues were rashes, "yeast" type infections under the panniculus. Also, the PS said the greater than 100 lb loss was important, but the rash documentation was probably the thing the ins. company looked at most. I've been thinking about it a long time, just decided to go see what my chances might be at getting it approved, and was shocked to find out that it was. I figured it was a long-shot!
