i trying to figure out if its better to have 60hz for fps then a higher hz and gain extra frames. is this something you just have to get used to or is this a true disadvantage in the gaming world in the consoles??

  • the human eye can see well over 200hz but the human brain cannot process all that information and you get image retention which is why 24fps movies work.

I mean get your hand and wave it fast in front of your eyes , what FPS is real life , i see motion blur so i guess that tells me I cant see fast enough .

  • How many of you tried moving your hands like MrKevin told you in the top comments? :D

  • This is for all of the idiots who replied to the video. All refresh rate really is how fast the screen refreshes when the image has a lot of motion. So higher the rate smoother image when things move.

  • @koolJ LEDs are better

  • TV displays running over 60hz are processing frames and attempting to fill in the gap in frames, thus you get a weird fluid motion with ugly annoying artifacts in certain images. 600hz plasma are 600hz but you won't get that fluid motion as they arent creating frames, they are reducing any motion blur and ghosting. Get a PC monitor capable of 120hz and hook it up with DVI-Dual link and run something at 120fps and you will see what true 120hz on LCDs looks like.

  • You shouldn't see a difference in Modern Warfare 2, as it only goes up to 60fps on the consoles. 60fps = 60Hz. If you go above 60Hz while still playing the game on a console, you shouldn't notice any discernible difference. The latency between the televisions may be slower, say from 10ms to 20ms, which would make the image appear to be "behind" the game, but pretty negligible.

The only console where you'll see a difference with more Hz is PC, as it can go over 60fps with the right components.

  • @Rtree115 Do you not like plasma? All plasma's are 600hz.

  • lol mw2 doesnt even go over 60hz

  • @Sekuhara not necessarily true. The designers can program a game to run at whatever frame rate they choose, whether 30fps or 60fps. I can't think of specific examples now but I remember playing a sport game on a higher powered console like the old xbox running a game at a fluid 60fps, but the same game on the gamecube was running at 30fps. Anyone can see the difference between 30fps and 60fps however anything higher than that really cant be seen by the human eye.

  • In the gaming world of consoles, video is rendered at 30 fps. It doesn't matter if you have 60, or 120, or 240, or 24000 fps on your TV, as you will still get just 30fps.

  • @hotbeanful I was talking more in lines of pixel response then over all refresh rate, a higher refresh rate tends to have a screen that has a faster pixel response to minimize motion blur. It would defeat the purpose of having a screen with a slow pixel response with a high refresh rate. but any ways, with my console or computer hooked up to my 240hz tv i can see the difference between my 60hz tv. i must be smoking something
