No, Nothing is paved, it is all sand !

I took a round trip from Barra to Benbecula a few years ago whilst on Holiday.

Its actually a cockle shell beach...broken shells compacted with the sand that makes it stable enough for light aircraft when the tide is out, one of a few in the World!!

Thanks for posting this video. Now I have to visit Barra, Scotland, since it is so wild and special, to use the beach for regularly scheduled airline service. That's my kind of place, close to the edge of civilizations, but civilized enough to be a safe base of operations for our explorations. I wonder if seaplanes ever use this field, since they could land even if the tide was in.
