Deakin University now has the largest collection of avian biologists in Australia including Professor Marcel Klaassen, the new head of the Centre for Integrative Biology.

Professor Klaassen research focusses on the lives of migratory birds, including the sharp-tailed sandpiper which each year flies from Siberia to south west Victoria, then back.

In this video, he describes why it is important to know as much as possible about the sandpiper, and he also talks about why caused him to choose this career path.
