Actiually, the "wetbacks" are the midwestern farmers from the United States that immigrated illegally into Mexico, Texas, Nevada, California etc, and which formented later to take the lands from the Mexican people that lived there before them.

Linda Ronstadt has always sang songs from past generations and she has never been one to live in her own musical past. Moving from Pop to Country Rock, to Pop Rock, to 50's covers, to Gilbert and Sullivan on Broadway, to Standards, to Latino. She is like Ry Cooder, a musical adventurer. They remind of music we have forgotten and expose us to music we have never heard. If they were to stick to playing what we want them to do, we would lose a lot.

She means she doesn't like Mexican folk music written after WW ll, she said that on a different interview. This one took place at the time she was recording her Canciones de mi Padre album, she just wanted to keep the original sound of the songs, and nobody in Mexico hated her for that comment. As a mexican, and after listening to the Canciones de mi Padre and Mas Canciones CDs I understand exactly what she was trying to say, and I still see her a a very unique and talented singer.

@mygirlruth I think a small number of Mexican criminals who have moved into the USA are responsible for the anti-Mexican sentiment by and large. I find most Mexicans to be very pleasant, though I wish they would learn English since that is our language in this country. I sure find the women beautiful, so the more the merrier I say!

Fascinating clip! Though I'm puzzled as to why Linda would say she hates everything that came after WWII including the music. If that's true then why has she sung so many songs written AFTER the 40's? In light of her views, why was she a part of a music scene she says she hated for so many years? I admire her talent but am quite baffled by her attitude. Oh well...it's a free country & she can love & hate whatever she wishes. She's a lovely lady with a lovely voice. THANX for uploading! :)

@KelleyGuy1 She's always said she prefers singing Latino songs because she grew up singing them in Arizona. Also, though made millions on her rock stuff and her collaborations with Nelson Riddle, Linda has said she never felt like that music came from her core, where the Latino always has and always will. Good for Linda! Meanwhile, we've got ALL of her recorded stuff available to us.
