Open back cabinets FTW!!!!!

I would have liked to hear what the two cabs sounded like together.

i thought open back need to be put closer to the wall for more bass?
i guess its better as you can "control" the bass sound

This was an excellent demonstration. Thank you!

First time I have heard the difference like this. Very interesting and informative.
Thanks for this.

Thanks for making the video.

I would be a little concerned about that closed back cab. Sure it sounds big a powerful when playing the guitar by itself, but you throw it in with a bass guitar and drums it's gonna be difficult to not create a big muddy zone in the 100-400 hz range, eh ? would be interesting to hear them in a mix.

Speaker mfg makes a world of difference!! Celestion greenbacks sound great in closed back cabs and not as good in open backed situations. Fender Jensens sound good in open backed situations but not so good in closed back situations.

ohhh cool. So the components are placed differently in closed back amps?
have you ever tried putting something behind your 4x10 to make it more like a closed back?

@GuiseppePipes I have tried, but the tubes got too hot.

Can you push an open back cabinet up against a wall and get some of what a closed back cabinet will do?

@tomhirschler If it's a cabinet yes, if it's an amp just make sure the amp itself is getting enough air to stay cool. the results won't be the same but different than just the open back in the middle of the room.
