Paul McCartney did mention it! I came across it, and...even George Harrison speaks of: Indo Rock(er) ... Andy Tielman! They played at the same places in germany....so that is quite obvious; All in Wiki....The Tielman Brothers were quite UNIQUE in those times/days in Europe; they broke many music barriers and though the Dutch HOW to ROCK!
About those references you asked for: a lot of sites claim that Paul McCartney said in an interview later on that he was very impressed by the Tielman Brothers that day in Hamburg, and that they influenced the Beatles' stage performance.
But I can't find that interview, so you've got a point as you say those references are not valid. This doesn't mean the story isn't true, but you're right this is no real proof at all.
It seems to me you really know a lot about the Tielmans!
beside wikipedia, please read books related to indisch culture, and watch great documentary titled "Rockin' Ramona", then we can discuss about the tielman brothers.on beatles was influenced by them,it is still debatable.i wrote an article about this, and waiting to be published. i will let all of you know.just, be open mind ;). btw, i made short documentary on andy:,"The Tielmans" :)
@supergilaz i looove indonesia. and i know andy tielman personally. i just want to clear up history. all of indorockers are indisch with dutch passport, most of them cant talk indonesian. is there any indorocker that started their career outside holland?PLEASE,WATCH "rockin' ramona", a documentary on indorock by Hans Heijnen (1991)
@DylanNoelk there is no single indorock band who are not an indisch.indisch is unique.you can be a purely dutch but was born in Nederlandsch-Indie, or a purely indonesian but worked for colonial (like tielman's father), or half mixed blood. they have their own culture:pasar malam, bahasa petjok, rijstaffel, architechture, etc.please read history, starting with:kebudayaan indis by djoko soekiman. :)
@dieselflynn about the influence of the tielman, could you please send me the references? all references i have are not considered as valid. at that time, in hamburg, dozens of band DID THE SAME ACT.
@dulady "though" should be "TAUGHT" the Dutch.....sorry...
