Lyrics

You could say the Moon is setting,

Waning in a china blue night sky

But I would say the Moon is rising and our love

would say we both are right

My back was to you, I thought I knew you

but we were just a boat out on dry land

We discovered that love is changing

a light we never really understand

For many dark years we denied ourselves the right

the gift it is to see the world horizonless

That day arrived and redefined

taking flight

We built houses within each other:

loves best sad architecture

Like two things that are but one thing—

who can say which is reflection?

We look back now at the progression,

the thousand steps that led up to this.

Accident holds the world up:

Dalis elephants

Your heart beats and it moves me

diastole systole—it moves me

and it moves me

and it moves me

and it moves me

Roy Bentley and I wrote this lyric in December, on a Sunday afternoon at his home in Iowa, inspired by the Dali painting in his living room.

  • Tom~

Great song and performance... I love the lyrics too... Do you only do your own personal songs or would you be willing to sing + play a cover? I had a passing thought that sometime we could collaborate and do something together... Piano + your guitar and vocals... That would be fun.... Cheers, David
