Actually the first automatic rifle for infantry use was the mexican Mondragon in 1887, but the first in any way widely used automatic rifle was the Dragunov in 1915. It has been called the first assault rifle.

StG was simply the weapon that made a breakthrough.

And the Fedorov is the first automatic infantry rifle (which is the quintessential definition of an assault rifle) ever.

Just because something came first doesn't mean everything that comes after is based on it.

This is one of those topics where you need to do research before stating something with certainty.

@Kuhlfurst Joo, no itse taas sirpaleliiviä en oo käyttänyt, mutta saman suuntaisia ajatuksia kuullut spolleilta:) Joo telamiinoja tarkoitin, itse sitonut 6 kappaleen verran tetsariin, eikä tuntunut missään, siis tetsarin näkökannalta katsoen :D...

Mutta toisaalta vanha tetsari oli loistava jakkara talvella marssien taukopaikalla, ja kyllä se hommansa ajo, ja pysty ryömiin loistavasti maassa (ei siis painanu rinnassa mikään) tosin itse en ole päässyt mesoomaan m/05:sen kanssa, et millanen se on..
