Presented in 2009 this 60 minute interactive webinar with Dr. Mark Browne, Andor's Director of Systems, looks at; Clara, a new CCD camera, UVP-350i, a new laser platform for pulsed UV uncaging and ablation, and showcase a new technology for white light confocal imaging, which we have named "Differential Spinning Disk" (DSD).

The DSD combines structured light with spinning disk illumination and was invented by Professor Tony Wilson and colleagues at the University of Oxford. The principles of operation and excellent performance will be explained and illustrated with data taken from the new instrument. In contrast to other white light spinning disk instruments, the DSD achieves low background and impressive optical sectioning by active rejection of out of focus light.

In line with the Andor systems approach, we have integrated DSD into a fully configured system with the Clara CCD camera; custom DC stabilized light source, piezo stage and Andor iQ workstation for image acquisition, visualization and processing.
