How long of a leader length do you typically use?

LouieM24,
I try to keep the length just long enough so the knot DOES NOT go into the reel housing. About 7' leader with a 7' rod

However with the albright you can go little braid to big flouro or vice versa with no issue.. Plus the albright doesn't actually involve a knot so there is less damage to your leader at the connection and maybe most importantly. It's MUCH smaller, compact, and goes through guides much smoother. As well you can cut the leading tag end at the knot instead of leaving a tag on both ends. Overall it's just better. Yeah the Uni to Uni is easier. But once you get used to stacking the coils... It's Not!

Uni to Uni works great, It was the only knot I used for leaders for about 15 years. Then I started tieing leaders of very different diameters with braid & flouro more often and the Uni to Uni doesn't even begin to stack up there. Ever tried tieing 10-15 lb braid to 8-10 lb flouro (the current setup for deepwater dropshot recommended by most pros) with a uni to uni? The braid will cut through the flouro almost every time...
