Because by law, Sweden is required to have 4 studded tires on every car regardless of 2 or 4 wheel drive.
Other countries cannot do this with the number of vehicles, and it does wear down the freeway rapidly with studs.
Studs are the same grade carbide steel used to drill concrete.

Before backing down the hill use a shovel and some sand or salt to clear a spot and get some traction. Once on cleared spot, clear more space in front of tyres and put down salt or sand. Then you have something to get you going. Otherwise you are wasting everyone's time and fuel. I do it with my dually and it works. Truckers act so thick no matter the country.

What is the problem? :O A litle bit of snow and ice? My God, we don´t have this problems in Sweden.
