The climax of the 1983 James Bond film "Octopussy" - an army of women, dressed in a variety of outfits (spandex, belly dancing outfits) easily outbattle a lot of guards.

  • it is like the scene in 1967 IN LIKE FLINT. Women attack men and defeat them. No fear in the women's eyes as they walk up to the men, only confidence. They know they are equals and can take the men. Filmed at the start of the womens liberation movement , it explores the concept of wheter or not there is a physically weaker sex.

  • Yes, I agree and Octopussy is one of my favourite Bond Movies.

  • @coolcat20million Dude, you didn't answer my question. I think we know who the timewaster is here don't we?

  • @Raxic75

Dude, you're a waste of time.

  • @coolcat20million So, are you implying that the films are better when the women are put in their place and don't gain the upper hand?

And if this is the case then you certainly need to rewatch Diamonds Are Forever again, entertaining it certainly is, but good is certainly debateable.

  • @Raxic75

Pussy Galore throwing Bond led to Bond putting her in her place. Bambi & Thumper were eventually put in their place by Bond. But Hips' nieces, similar to the scene here, were part of the more mediocre Bond films.

ALL movie directors make writing changes. Each one of Glen's Bond films made less money than the one before it. (Except Living Daylights - but that's only because it was Dalton's first time.) ie: Glen's directing sucked.

  • @coolcat20million In regards to your first comment it seems you've never seen any of Guy Hamiltons Bond film which featured male bashers like Pussy Galore, Bambi & Thumper and Hips' nieces. Glen didn't write the films but did contribute to the action scenes only so may have had some influence in this respect, personally I like what he did with the '80s films considering there were filmed on much lower budgets than the previous films of the 1970's.

  • Like other posts, this scene had a huge effect on me. The sight of an all-female army (in form-fitting costumes, allowing maximum flexibility) physically overpowering a male force threatened my male pride. But it was also incredibly arousing to behold! Nothing sexier than lithe, acrobatic females defeating scores of males!!

  • @geoffers35 What crap. Just visit a martial arts club and you'll see just how much stronger, faster and aggresive an average man is to an average woman. You won't find one woman who can take on the top 5000 men in the world in a cage fight, or a boxing ring. This is why you will never hear any feminist/woman complaining about men and women competing seperately. Hell the women even complain if a female runner who beats them, looks masculin like Caster Semenya.

  • @colrox1984

The first girl at 1:11 is Carolyn Seaward, the second is Mary Stavin and Kristina Wayborn..

  • @usucdik - I agree. I blame the director of this film, John Glen. The guy tried to appease women in each of his Bond films by having a woman (or women) beat up on men.

John Glen is a hack director who NEVER should have been allowed to direct a Bond movie, let alone 5 of them! (He directed every EON Bond film throughout the 1980's. And THAT's why the Bond series sucked so bad back then - Except for Timothy Dalton's contribution.)

  • Great scene, great movie
