@kawimojave well i compared a 4runner to an explorer which r both midsized SUV's. of course if u take a diesel ford or dodge which was made to be big and take on huge loads and compare it to a tacoma or a frontier, the the diesel would be better. what im tryin to say is that japanese cars r more reliable than american cars. when it comes to a good work truck, an average general contractor would do just fine in a tundra, f150, or a nissan titan. but like i said id go japanese.

@jumpMATTjump Any car/truck/van is reliable if it's driven the way it was built. Toyotas are NOT built for work, thats why they are not mass advertised for durability or being "workhorses" (ford, chevy, dodge). If you are seriously going to compare a 4runner the the legendary 7.3 liter powerstroke powered ford, or the legendary 5.9 liter straight six cummins powered dodges, then you are simply out of your mind. Ford has built their trucks for work for a reason.

@kawimojave a boddy of mine has a 3rd gen 4runner with over 170k miles and salvage title because of a small fedner bender. his engine runsmostly stock parts (even the water pump is still stock and has no leaks). as opposed to my 1997 ford explorer wsport trac which is at 150k miles, already went thru 2 water pumps and needs repairs in the drivetrain. toyota compared to any american made car is a fuckin god.
