  • Nice video. My Tecumseh is exactly like the one you are showing. I just put it back together after replacing a valve spring retainer. The problem I'm having is the engine RPM surges back and forth. Any ideas?

  • @allake2011 that would most likely be due to carb settings or a dirty carb

  • mine runs too rich how can i fix this,,,

  • @camry01 thurn in the bottom screw

  • What can I do about the RPMs going up and down constantly. Reving up and down, up and down, up and down ?

    Thank you,

    John

  • @dovepick first thing to do is clean and rebuild the carb

  • I removed the governer arm when replacing the fuel line. Upon reassembly motor was taching at 4500RPM!!! You solved my problem. Thanks for the helpful video.

  • SPOT ON! This is exactly what my problem was, I had the gov linkage set way to far back from where it should be,m next time ill take pictures and come back to your videos!

  • Great instructions. Very helpful, thank you!

  • @ConkersBFDN64 I think you may have to pull the cylinder cover off and see why the governor isn't working.

  • I got mine running great today. FYI, the length of the longer rod (the one from the governor to the throttle control) is about 6.5 inches and the shorter one (the one from the governor to the carb throttle) is about 4.25 inches. Thanks for the informational video. Also, the position of the rods seems to be important. I had the longer rod in the wrong hole. I used the hole that's in your video.

  • @donyboy73 The carb is exactly like it was before I did the other repairs. Can you give the length of both rods; the one that goes from the governor to the carb throttle and the one that goes from the throttle actuator to the governor? I realize they have bends in them for clearance, but how about the measurements from one end to the other? On other words, from one "z" bend to the other end with a "z" bend? Don't include any bends in between. This would be greatly appreciated.
