I don't know much about this but I think that it is an early prototype of the Apple Newton from about 1987.

This was not Newton, this is Apples "Knowledge Navigator". This was a concept of where Apple said the future of technology would go. Although close we aren't there yet, the similarities are KN itself resembles an iPad, the touch interface, document archiving, embedded camera, video conferencing like iOS.
