EmploymentCrossing.com The Dallas Independent School District has cut 150 non-contract jobs in another layoff meant to help fill an $84 million dollar budget hole. Jobs affected include clerks, custodians and teacher's aides. Another 100 vacant positions were also eliminated. Next week, the district plans to eliminate 550 teaching positions. Administrators will also see a purging of the ranks. "It's going to be emotional, because no matter what they're doing to us in the DISD, teaching has to continue," Bryan Adams High School teacher Diane Birdwell told the Dallas Morning News. The DISD has blamed the deficit on accounting problems and "position creep" jobs added when campuses hired more teachers than warranted by their enrollments. Critics say administrators including Superintendent Michael Hinojosa should have been at the top of the layoff list.

  • BTW dudes, illegal immigrants aren't the problem - silly administrators are.

  • And how do we do that? We have a U.S. Supreme Court decision called Plyler v. Doe, from the 1980s. This guarantees that illegals will attend public schools.

  • Let's get rid of the ILLEGAL students and the system won't be so strained.
