There is no doubt that Ilie Nastase is the most technially gifted tennis player ever. Only Roger Fedderar can match him, when it comes to naturally giftness.
Yes!! llie Nastase was THE most naturally gifted player ever to swing a racket (as well as the cutest). I'm a Fed fan (Roger now being the closest to Nasty in style of play), but Ilie still comes out on top for sheer beauty of movement and breathtaking shotmaking - and speed. What a joy to watch. Is it true that shots from Ilie's matches can't be posted here? I have them too. There are so many TV clips already on YouTube that must be under copyright ... but thanks for the great film, fork
You have them??? I mean shots from matches, please post some. I'm a gymnastics fan and I just don't understand how they can post so much, whole competitions!! That's how I've seen Nadia, Korbut, Tourischeva etc. and I think a lot of people would LOVE to see Nastase in his prime.
Hi - I have DVDs (poor image quality, as copied from videotapes) of his Wimbledon 1972 final (lost very narrowly to Smith but fantastic match), US Open 1972 (won against Ashe), Barcelona Masters Cup semifinal 1972 (won easily against Connors - amazing play by N) and a 1973 doubles match with Connors v. Newcombe and Roche (they lost).
I honestly don't know the rules yet, i.e. whether it would all get deleted if I posted some of the great shots here (would have to find the time to do the editing, though - long job). Any ideas about that? I found all the DVDs online, sold by various people, mainly in the USA. It may be worth doing a search if you are interested (there may be more out there).
