I've lived my entire life to explore old mines, and that right there is a rare privilege! I've been in 100s of them and I've never found one with an ore car intact, thank you for sharing the video! Cheers

They're mostly empty. One had some old blank time cards from when the mine was operating. Very cool.

This mine is located on the border of Death Valley National Park. The other track leads to the main haulage shaft (which is inclined and collapsed part way along it's length).

Thanks for all the nice comments. Riding this cart was really a treat. It's inaccessibility is probably the only reason it's still possible. The lights in this video were not actually not that bright. Just a LED headlamp and LED tactical flashlight. The camera did a good job of amplifying the light.

I've always wanted to go into those old mines, the thing is that with some abandon mines there are puddles of ground water. It traps dangerous gasses inside and if you break the surface of the water, those gasses are released and then you're screwed.

Western mines don't usually have this problem but gases are always a concern. We use gas detectors and anyone that goes any distance into abandoned mines should as well.
