After arriving at Chicago Union Station Amtrak 6 the California Zephyr reversed out of Union Station and turned on the Wye, and heads south under the 18th St. Bridge to reverse again to the wash building to be washed, while it heads south as now Amtrak Yard Job 6, the tale end of Amtrak Yard Job 4, or Amtrak 4 Southwest Chief train set is going through the wash building.

UP 1989 was added near Salt Lake City after one of the P42 failed to load, and amtrak asked UP for help.

  • You can thank the SLC Amtrak Clerk Max Blair for the UP1989 being in #6 that day. I added it to #6 then took it on to GJT. Then I handed off to another ex-D&RGW engineer for the GJT - Denver leg. Thanks for giveing me a memory.

  • @sethamtrak its hell of alot better lol

  • @sagestats that's better for the railfan's than amtrak!

  • Also the people talking and the wind sort of gives it away by making it real and other stuff too.

  • sweet, for a second it looked model to me, but now after a minute or so it actually is real. cool video!!

  • amazing pretty engine , super amazing , thks for sharing

  • Because the heritage units are a great PR tool for UP

  • This make very little sense unless the spare unit that has always been kept at Denver was used before this. Again I don't see why Amtrak would waste money if they had a unit in Denver and especially after the arrival in Chicago with 15 or so units sitting there why wasn't this unit immediately return to cut the cost of rental?

  • Cool!
