Alex Ansary questions Dan Saltzman in Portland, Oregon April 25 2010

Days after speaking before city council about my concerns about the plans for martial law in Portland, I caught up with Portland City Commissioner Dan Saltzman. Dan was leaving a televised debate and I asked him in person if he had any reaction to my testimony at city hall. Saltzman echoed a familiar talking point that in "the post 911 world" precautions need to be taken. This video was shot to document the reality that the Portland City Council is NOT taking the appropriate measures to ensure that Portland, Oregon will be making its own decisions when it comes to security and police action. Despite the supposed attempts made recently to clean up the Portland Police's image after several high profile shootings, this interview documents how much pull and influence the federal government still has when it comes to emergency preparedness in my city.
