At that time, his favorite way to show affection was to smack me on the forehead and enjoy the noise it made. I had waited patiently for the perfect moment to get back at him: after his last perfomance, I saw my chance. He was outside the theatre surrounded by a group of friends, so I stealthily approached him, my hand twitching in vengeful anticipation. I burst through his admirers and slapped him in the middle of the forehead as hard as I could. The sound was delightful; the response was not. To my horror, my brother was not surrounded by friends, but by an effusive group of directors, producers and members of the media. From that moment on, I was David's weird little sister...who had to work with many of the same people later in life.
