Contact lenses are among the safest forms of vision correction when patients follow the proper care and wearing instructions provided by their optometrist. However, when patients don't use lenses as directed, the consequences may be dangerous. In fact, Americans could be damaging their eyes by not using proper hygiene in caring for their lenses.

Contact lenses and the solutions used with them are medical devices and are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, therefore, it's extremely important that patients maintain regular appointments to ensure they are receiving clinical guidance from their eye doctor based on individual eye health needs.

According to the American Optometric Association, clean and safe handling of contact lenses is one of the most important measures Americans can take to protect their sight. Exercising optimal care and hygiene with contact lenses can keep the eyes healthy.

  • @aplayaz2000 and for gods sake make sure u use a lint free towel... if the lint gets onto the contacts and u put it on... lets just say my eyes felt like they were burning by the end of the day...

  • @xXLaurelx Yes, that's normal... you'll just have to get use to it ;)

  • Omg i just got contacs and I can see perfectly in distance but when I look at my computer or iPod or phone it's blurt for a second then gets clear. Is this a form of getting use of!? Please help!

  • Pointless. No detailed instructions. Useless.

  • It's better to use a Q-tip to clean the lens so you don't scratch it.

  • @spongey100 Yea they may fall out. But at the same time the contacts just might stay in and get the chemicals on them. Which would irritate your eye until you took the contacts out.

  • @lilsugert nahh, but it can dry out.

  • @razor005 they might fall out.

  • @JonItalia OMG! I don't know! OH MY GOSH! I WANNA CRY BUT I DON'T HAVE EYES! HELPP! :(
