Lots of great things happened at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress 2011, but the hottest spot on the convention floor had to be Joe Melendrez's booth. High energy and the people passing by were dancing in the streets.
@TheRougeHawksClan So you didn't like the video that I made after a recent trip to Kenya for the ordinations of two of our members? (See video "Dancing Deacons" on my channel)
The mass was a wonderful celebration and had fantastic liturgical dancing which was beautiful, prayerful and cultural!
@TheRougeHawksClan Have you been in attendance at the Congress in the past?
I believe the speakers I listened to are deeply spiritual people and they gave talks which were insightful and challenging. I enjoyed being in an environment and celebrating with thousands of other Catholics who were alive in their faith. It was a also a great place for us to meet and talk with young men who are discerning a call to the priesthood or religious life. I am looking forward to being there again next year.
@BrotherDavidGHM If song has to do with praise and worship, yeah then it's praying twice. Thank you for the clarification! But although this conference seems enthusiastic, it is a catalyst for liturgical rebellion. I have no problem for charisma in El Sancto Sacrificacio del la Misa, but when it crosses a certain point, then it starts to become destructive. The conference also has speakers that are notorious for erroneous and heretical views or have connection to organizations like such.
@TheRougeHawksClan Good question. This was a great weekend promoting vocations at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress. The booth across from Glenmary's was Joe Melendrez who is known for his Rosary Rap album. Lots of people stopped by to sing and pray. This video was more highlighting the fun time catequistas y otros had at the Congress.
Thriller may not be a spiritual song but I do think God wants us to have fun in life. And as St. Augustine said "Singing is praying twice."
I'm wondering what dancing to "thriller" has to do with deepening and discovering our call to holiness.... I'm 14 years old by the way, Hispanic, and see this as ridiculous and spiritually dry. Correct me if I'm wrong, porfavor!
