Simulteniously with the other one in Tahrir Square......

Protest started from the Maadi area after the Gomaa prayer in Al Fath Mosque, then went towards Al Tahrir square, but was forbidden by the security forces. By 7:30 PM, a Chevrolet van -other protesters claimed it was a US embassy car- hits 6 protesters at least.

  • Al-Jazeera suggests that the driver might have panicked - even tho in my opinion the other video shows the van deliberately swerve to ward the ppl after they had tried to move out of the way. This video clearly shows that the people were not trying to storm the vechile at all - they were just calmly walking along the street - some evn just standing around chatting. None look interested in any attempt by the crowd to mob that car. I believe this was a deliberate act.

  • @ReanimatedResidue: That's not a panicked driver, notice the slowly approaching the people, then speeding up promptly, it's the same driving style for the other two attacks with the green and red cars.

  • Isn't this the "diplomatic car" seen in another video?

Apart from that, this is disgusting.

  • @Cha0sst4r: Yes, there's another video filmed from above.

  • Is diplomatic van belongs US embassy number of car was ( DEPLOMATIC 80 )

  • @amradam Trust me friend, I agree. The "panic" excuse sickens me too. :(

  • @ReanimatedResidue: the original video's 170 MB, i don't know if it is possible to improve the seen from it, but anyway the american embassy said there was a vahicle stolen from them that day.

  • Okay it was definately a US embassy vehicle. Here's the damage control article:

Officials: Van stolen from U.S. Embassy may have hit Cairo protesters

    cnn(dot)com/2011/WORLD/africa/02/04/egypt.us.van/index(dot)html

Question is why the stolen vehicles were not reported sooner (especially considering other similar incidents with green Police Vans) and it was only after the first video appeared on Al-Jazeera that the US sent a statement regarding this theft. This BS stinks to high heaven.

  • Is there a higher resolution of this video so that maybe number plate or other identifying marks can be found?
